Maybe you should've post this entry in the racing forum. But I agree, what a slow race, I'm glad the horses finished the race at all.

i've seen women walking in the mall int he morning before they open run faster than today's belmont

that is quite pathetic and should show the breeders that they need to do something different

They did run the final 1/4 mile in 26 and change. Not really staggering home in my book. Looked like a standard race ploy by the front runner, (First Dude) to get out front and slow it down.

I guess in 1941 when Whirlaway staggered home in 2:31 all the pundits were carping about how the breed had gone to Hell.

When Assault crawled across the wire in 2:30 4/5, should his TC been taken away from him?

Lest we forget dual classic winner Thunder Gulch zipped home in 2:32!

That's a pretty standard time for the Belmont these days isn't it?

Let's see Secretariat ran it in 2:24 flat. Would have won today by-well I'll be darned, 35 lengths...

It was a very slow race but that is what I expected given the horses in the race...Commendable ran it in 2:31 back in 2000...every race since 2000 was won in sub 2:30.
