Anyone can explain to me what's the (NTB) on the 2nd dam's name? First time I've seen something like it. Is this a "non thoroughbred" from the second dam on? Is this allowed (apparently so?).
Thanks a lot

Pedigree of Clantime:

If Clantime wasn't considered a Thoroughbred, I could not find an obvious reason in his pedigree. He made 50 starts in the UK and won stakes.
There are a handful of cases in which a horse lacked one generation of being purebred, 7 generations instead of 8, which led to them being considered not quite a TB, but they had no lack of speed or talent. After a quick search of Clantime's pedigree, I could not find the source of any non-TB breeding. Someone more familiar with British TBs might be of greater help.
NTB= Non Thoroughbred, assuming these people know what they're talking about.

At least as late as the 1960s, a horse one generation short of being a TB could get papers for racing purposes only.

Hi We own the coloured Horse in the tread thats bee posted, and a mare by Clantime, in England and all the UK and some countries in the EU you have a register for non TB that means the stock from registered Parents can race and when bred to pure TB in the GSB for 8 generations they may enter the GSB provided they meet with critera that show them to be assimilated to a TB like winning a race.
hope this helps

So it seems the question remains regarding racing. Can the hip in the Keeneland sale race, or not? Can we assume yes in this case? Not that I'm buying (too many of my own right now), I'm just curious.

I looked at No More's entry in the database and went down a couple of generations. Seems her grandaughter, Lad Mariea, ran twice. What's also interesting is that Lady Mariea's offspring show to decend from family 19-a (as opposed to NTB for earlier female generations). Could someone kindly clarify? Thanks!

You may be confusing the earnings field (where 'NSB' has been entered in the entries for Lady Mariea's dam & 2d dam) with the family number field. Entries in both fields are displayed in progeny reports. All of No More's descendants in tail female should show up as 19-a as long as they were entered in the db before the last monthly female family update.
