Diablo/Valid Blend blood lines

Postby hjfreddy1 » Sat Feb 12, 2011 9:18 pm

I have a gelding (Valid Diablo) who is by Diablo out of Valid Blend. I am slowly starting a search for another horse, as I will be finishing school this fall. I love my gelding dearly and would like to know how hard it would be to find something with similar blood lines?

If I remember right, Diablo was shipped to Japan years back.

As I mentioned it is not an immediate must for another horse, but I am not sure of my chances of finding another horse with similar lines. I am not looking for racing, I ride jumpers.

Your next jumper

Your gelding is tail mail to Hail To Reason who still today is highly regarded. There is a post in the stallion forum with a link to an old article you might enjoy. If you are on east coast you might contact JessiP from this board to keep an eye out for an OTTB. Devil His Due has been a fairly good sire and is from that tail male line. He occasionally has produced some very flashy sporthorse types. Post a pic of your boy on his pedigree page? :D

this doesn't exactly match your request, but if I were looking for a jumping type horse, i'd consider

not a commerical mare at all, but I haven't seen this much stout blood in a long time... check out that dosage!

Wonder if this filly ever saw some long routes or fences. She's certainly bred for distance and turf.

ZERO black type in the first 3 dams, but some very unusual things worth mentioning. Here's the catalog page: http://obssales.com/juncatalog/2007/488.PDF

Sire is a 1/2 brother to Skywalker, and by Le Fabuleux.

Dam is by Lear Fan (and I would love to know why a mare with such a light pedigree got into his book)

2nd dam is by Sir Godfrey, who is a full brother to the champion Gold River and from an amazing distaff.

3rd dam is by champion NZ and AUS sire Oncidium, know for getting "top-notch early-maturing stayers"

Reality check... whoever buys this mare has to know that she has no commercial appeal. However, what fun it would be to tinker with that old European turfy pedigree.

How do I attach a picture to his pedigree? I am in Canada, but realize to get a replacement for my gelding I will have to ship the horse, which is fine. Though trying to find a gelding that is as tall as mine could be hard as he is 17.2hh. While his is a cranky horse ( I assume due to bloodlines or that is what i was told), I would love to get my hands on another Diablo baby.

There was a stallion named Exciting Story that stood at Lanes End Texas a few years ago. He died in 2004 & his last crop was in 05. He was by Diablo & out of a Valid Appeal mare. You may be able to find some progeny of him in that area still. It was ashame he died so young as he was looking like he was going to make a decent sire.

My gelding isn't super hot, but definitely CRANKY! You simply look at him and he pins his ears back and will toss his head. Though once you get to know his you see it's all a big show he puts on. Even grooming he is cranky, it's pretty much do what you need to get done and then leave him.

But you can tell he was born a competitive animal. When he is out at shows he has a game face and is all business. He gets a little hot when having to wait to enter the ring for his round. First show took 2 people on the ground and me riding to hold him at the gate.
