Having two in the derby and one to win...thinking he's on the upswing...

Who was the other Flower Alley?

When I looked after the Derby, I'll Have Another had won $500K this year and the second highest earner just $68,000. The Derby doesn't hurt but consistency is also important.

i think bayrabicano did the same thing i did because for a long time I thought gemologist was by flower alley utnil i actually looked at his pedigree myself and realized he's by tiznow. I remember saying to myself around march "dang flower alley is having a break out year" lol i'm glad i didn't post that i would have got hung on the cross lol.

for me the confusion came from HRTV they made it seem like Gemologist was by flower alley one day when they did a segment on him

You're correct. So sorry about that.... I just had it in my head and didn't go back to check. I thought, man FA has two...3C must be really happy with him.

His half brother just won a stakes last night in Japan or something too..

Look at how quick Leroi went from 5k to 30k? He was a give-away stallion until AK showed up at Derby. Still not impressed with either but I like Flower Alley and kind of think people who turned down his yearlings/2 year olds in the last few years are kicking themselves..

But these kinds of one off stallions always need an encore. What was Birdstone's breeding year like? Technically he had two but has been pretty quiet since.

I'm sorry I did mean I dont like AK or Leroi. I'm a fan of Flower Alley (and Birdstone too) but Derby sires can be hit or miss. If they sire high end stakes winners year after year they stay high end (commercial). Even more so if they sire diverse stakes winners who can get turf/dirt/poly etc..

It just takes time and who your connections are..

Proud Citizen nearly had 2 in there had Mark Valeski stayed in, and Went the Day Well ran as good as one could without winning....not to mention Believe You Can the day before. So who's the better value, Flower Alley at $7500 or Proud Citizen at $10,000?
