Fostering a horse in NJ - HELP PLEASE

Postby btcountess » Sat Nov 10, 2012 9:13 pm

Hi, there's a rescue group in VA that lets you pay an amount to be a foster parent - the horses stay at the rescue farm but you can go and visit and even groom then if you are checked out to do it. I desperately want to find something like this for my granddaughter for Christmas. She can't afford a horse of her own but she would love to visit "her" horse and care for it and give it attention and love - we would contribute money for it's care. Thanks for any ideas.

Try njbreders.com or newjerseybreedersassociation.com and contact them for any information you need, they should be able to help you find what you are looking for.

BT Countess ... the Standardbred Retirement Foundation might be what you're looking for. In addition to fostering/sponsoring a horse, they also have volunteer opportunities, maybe something your granddaughter would like or be able to do. I can put you in touch with someone there if you'd like. Here's the web site:

it's the rescues that take care of horses and provide homes that should be supported imo instead of the horse shufflers!

What does this have to do with bt countess's original question?
