Anywhere where a person can find out how many times a certain trainer has had the above verses his starts?

Market Watch comes out with this data every once in awhile but you'll have to pay for a subscription to get it.

Interesting that this info is not available to owners!

Set up an equibase watch and every time there's an entry or result you'll be sent it. You can also pull up the trainer in equibase and click on "results" and that will link you to their results. It's a PITA and slow but at least you could see a pattern if there is one.

Having to pay for it doesn't make the information unavailable. Or you can do what Tappiano suggested and do your own research.

If you do the research on Equibase, something to keep in mind that pulled up/eased doesn't necessarily mean a breakdown. If the horse is just hopelessly beaten and the jockey chooses to not push it, that's a very different thing than being injured. That is not uncommon when a horse switches surfaces (e.g. turf to mud) and it happens pretty much every single race in jumps racing.
