ALERT: Keeneland Library Duplicate Book Sale!!!

Postby jellac » Thu Feb 20, 2014 3:41 pm

There are so many well read/well informed and thoughtful pedigree enthusiasts, thoroughbred racing and breeding history subject matter experts on this board over the years (and some still with us!) that I thought this a worthwhile 'ALERT' for this group:

Date:
Thursday, March 6, 2014 - 9:00am to Saturday, March 8, 2014 - 5:00pm
Event description:
For the first time since its establishment in 1939, The Keeneland Library will sell duplicate books, journals and magazines from its unique collections on March 6-8. Approximately 7,000 books and journals will be available. Most of the books are from the 19th and 20th centuries, and the journals date from the 1930s to present.

As the largest repository of materials on the Thoroughbred horse, the Keeneland Library serves readers and researchers who value and enjoy Thoroughbred history and culture. Most of the duplicate books are out of print, and all but the rarest books will be priced to sell.

The sale will take place from Thursday, March 6 through Saturday, March 8. Hours of operation are as follows:

•March 6, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
•March 7-8, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Subjects include equine art, fiction, equine care, breeding, pedigrees, history of horses, history of horse racing and specific race tracks, Kentucky Derby, Breeders Cup, veterinary care, biographies, media guides, and memorabilia. Some of the titles include:

American Racehorses, 1936-1969

There will be no advance sales. All purchases must be made in person at the Keeneland Library Duplicate Book Sale in the Keene Barn at the Keeneland Entertainment Center.

Most books are priced from $1.00 to $25.00. Some rare books will be individually priced based on market value, condition and scarcity. Proceeds from the Keeneland Library Duplicate Book Sale will enhance the Library's ability to preserve its collections and to offer outreach and research services.
