Tail-wringing--possible to feel?

Postby Toccet02 » Sat Jan 03, 2015 1:56 pm

I just saw the first at Aqueduct where the two was really doing this out of the gate. Nevertheless, she won.
I was just wondering if the jockey can feel it? Theoretically the muscles back there might be felt as they are used...so, possible? Or excercise riders at slower speeds?

Can't speak for the jockeys, but I could feel it when my bullheaded old alpha QH mare would do it. I could talk her into anything at home, but getting on her at a show was asking for a fight. There was a very distinctive back-end twitch that I could feel in addition to the mounting tension in her mouth and shoulders. That twitch meant that I had better two-hand that Tom Thumb snaffle and get her into figure eights NOW, or else we were going back to the barn. The first time I missed that cue, we went through the fence of the warmup arena at the 4H fairgrounds.
