Of course today your Kentucky Derby is the highlight of the year: at Newmarket however, this weekend are the Guineas the topic everybody is talking about. Churchill is the number one in the betting. It is a very small field since years, but the quality is high!

Re: this weekend: the Guineas
It sure was a grand weekend full of tophorses. Saturday Churchill won the 2000 Guineas from Barney Roy and the French horse Al Wukair. Churchill might go to the Irish Guineas and the St. James' Palace Stakes. Barney Roy might be suited by a longer distance.

On sunday Aidan O'Brien took also the 1000 Guineas as expected, but is was not Rhododendron, but her stable mate Winter.
Winter was more suited by the distance as it seemed, Rhododendron will apply for the Oakes.

Hi Erins isle,
What a great looking horse Churchill is...thanks for the post. There was word Mr. O'Brien was considering 2 horses to run in the Preakness Stakes...Lancaster Bomber was the only one mentioned by name, but since he just ran 4th to Churchill that may not come to pass. Would you know who the other horse might be, he was considering for the Preakness? TJ

Hi, sorry I do not hear the comment of Aidan O'Brien, I was over whelmed but the broadcast. I specially liked the looks of Winter, she looks awsome.
In this country it is difficult to see the ins and outs of a meeting, but I watched it for the first time on Dubai Racing Channel, forget the commercials and enjoy the whole bunch.

Hello,
to my surprise I see the damline of the French Guineas winner Brametot is very wellknown
in Germany, because he belongsd to the Family of 'Monsun'.
regards, Bettina

Re: this weekend: the Guineas
There are a lot of famous German names in the damline don't you think? I didn't know it either, just after I watched the race, I looked at the pedigree.

Re: this weekend: the Guineas
I just read Churchill will meet Thunder Snow this weekend (5/27) in the Group I Irish Guineas at the Curragh. Of the 9 entries, O'Brien trains 6 of them including Lancaster Bomber. Looking forward to see if Thunder Snow will return to form over the turf....though it still may not assure victory, with Churchill in the field. TJ

Another great win for Churchill in the Irish Guineas Saturday. Thunder Snow returned to his good form over the turf and finished 2nd, beaten 2 1/2 lengths. Read the article and watch the race below. TJ
