Merchants and Citizens Handicap

I bought an old BW photo when I was in Saratoga. I liked it, and thought it was some random race photo. I took it out to frame it tonight and there was writing on the back. It's of the 1946 Merchants and Citizens Handicap. Lucky Draw won, Polynesian is in second. :) Lymenow is third. It was a neat surprise! And one of my OTTB's ancestors.

Yes, you're right! I corrected my post. :D

And thanks! I only wished that I went through the pile a little more carefully, there may have been other gems in there.
I will, next summer! They also had a lot of cool, old books on horses and racing.

Hi Skeenan,
If you offer that to the right person, you might be able to retire on it:>) It is a significant piece of history, Lucky Draw was a really good horse owned by George D. Widener Jr (Erdenheim Farm). In a side note...his father George Dunton Widener, mother Eleanor Elkins Widener and brother Harry Elkins Widener were all on board the Titanic. At the end, George and Harry escorted Eleanor to the lifeboat and remained on board to face their fate. TJ
