CLARIFICATION on Patchen Beauty's 2005 foal
Dear readers:
A clarification must be added regarding the published note by Thoroughbred Times on Patchen Beauty's 2005 new foal: The sabino entity that produces this phenomenom is not a recessive pattern but seems to behavior most of the time like a dominant one. Albeit this sort of unpredictable pattern cannot be considered a gene yet, its behavior tends to confirms its dominance according to world experts, including Dr Phil Sponenberg. That's the reason why Airdrie Apache (1993) is so prolific in achieving so many white foals. There is no doubt that Dalene Knight has helped him by selecting a lot of proven sabino carriers, but years before Airdrie Apache, a horse named Clarence Stewart (1977) didn't have such an advantage yet he managed anyhow to produced the white gelding White Flight. The same rationale applies to Patchen Beauty's white lineage, who owes her pattern to the cornerstone named Ky. Colonel (1946), who was a chestnut and sired two white foals ---War Colors and White Beauty--- in 1963.

What a remarkable mare! It's so very unusual for an extreme sabino to produce one white foal like herself, let alone three. Very neat!
Here's a photo of the new foal from horsephotos.com. Looks like his name is White Prince:

You have it switched around. Precious Beauty is the dam of Patchen Beauty.
