AVERAGE AGE OF TB FANS

Postby louis finochio » Sun May 01, 2005 7:57 am

I have been observing the average age of TB fans for a long time.

In Calif. my estimate would be 55 years of age. What about the other parts of the country and Europe. What would be your estimate average age in your part of the country.?

I would be unable to put an average age on racegoers but families are encouraged in the UK, and plenty of the evening racing attracts the 25-35 age range.

Here in Iowa I'd guess the average age is around the mid 30's to early 40's. Adrienne, if I'm wrong, correct me!

there is no range in KY, from kids to old folks. A lot of the racing partnerships are attracting the late 20's to 30's with disposable income... the little girls next door are diehard fans, they are 10 and 12....

Well... LoL... I used to work in the Prairie Meadows simulcast center, so I might have a skewed version of things. I think people had a hard time with the youngest thing in the place controling the TVs <eg>.

But really, I would say 30-40's definately. Those in their 20's are rare and those older are fairly rare considering how young Iowa racing really is.

Fairmount Park near ST. Louis has Thursday and Friday night racing with drink promotions and bands etc. It has been very popular with the 20 something set and attracts nice crowds, lots of nice looking ladies, which also brings out the guys. More tracks should do these types of promotions with a combination of day and night racing.

from my perspective I see more younger (18-30) fans at quarter meets. I think for some reason the older generations are more apt to attend thoroughbred meets. Maybe its the quickness of the quater races that attracts the young, life in the fast lane, crowd LOL... Brooke

Rockingham park used to have a lot of family days.. Saturdays especially. So a lot of younger kids would be at the races.. but man at Suffolk Downs. unless it is the MA Cap, Mon-Sat. crowd is in the 50-60 age
