Years ago, when this topic was brought in, I remember connoisseurs mentioning the name of GREY FLIGHT (gray m 1945) due to the quantity and quality of the foals along with the importance of the races won.

Another good one was Irish Bird , dam of 3 classic winners in Assert (Irish & French Derbies), Bikala (French Derby) and Eurobird (Irish St Leger). Stan Cosgrave of Moyglare stud culled her for something like £16000, which wasn't his best ever decision:)

If we are talking mares, what about Better Than Honor? Going back a bit a mare I truly admire is Battle Creek Girl.

I knew Better Than Honour would have to get some mention. Any other dams previously mentioned have back to back Belmont winners or Triple Crown series winners?

Jorge, you will like this one, as I love her:

Shenanigans

Dam of RUFFIAN, Laughter, Buckfinder and BM of the year, 1975

She was a lovely GREY (Jorge) daughter of Native Dancer.. as was her daughter Laughter, a grey, who produced Private Terms. Shenanigans female line is still going long and strong.

But producing Ruffian, dark like her unfortunate fragile sire, Reviewer, a filly like no other, is enough.

I don't know that Almahoud would qualify here, but she produced a couple of great broodmares in Natalma and Cosmah.

Natalma is the dam of Derby and Preakness winner, Northern Dancer, arguably the greatest sire of all time.

Cosmah is the dam of Halo, a great sire in his own right.
