A friend of mine suggested that I post here. I haven't been here since Miles spiffed up the site! (WHOA). I used to post as SalishT aka LJ aka Leslie. Some of you might remember me. If not that's okay. A lot of you however, may remember my horse (my very first homebred), Salish Prince.
About 6 weeks ago, Copelan's\Eagle (DMR Forum) contacted me because Salish Prince had "rapped" his tendon and would be retired. Long story short, he bowed. Not only that it was his 2nd bow. (he also has an ankle but, he raced for years with it and it hasn't been re-injured -- to my knowlege).
He is 13YO. As a result we became concerned that it would be difficult to place him. Last week, I heard he would be placed but didn't know where. Today, I found out he will be placed in Northern Virginia at Montpelier Station (TRF's site).
The details are not yet known. But I thought some of you may remember my old guy, Salish Prince. He was a true hard knocker (earned over $300K, the hard way racing over 100 times).
He was claimed from us at 3 -- so it's 10 years later. I've watched him from afar for a long long time. Now, I can finally repay him for all that he has done for me. I am very proud to have bred a horse with heart and durability.

Salish Prince sounds like a warrior. Maybe when he sees grass again he will remember his first home.
Montpelier, by the way, is lovely. A kind of horse heaven, particularly if you can stand around swishing your tail on the really hot days. During the Montpelier Hunt Races, the TRF brings out one of their retirees to their booth. Maybe Salish Prince can be an ambassador, if he has the meet and greet personality.

That's great news! I had actually inquired about him through another person to see what his future was going to be. Another concerned person contacted me and asked me to check up on him. I knew he was going to be placed and was told he was going home to his breeder.....obviously not the case but it sounds like they did right by him.
