Pampas Host - 1972

Postby Jessi P » Sun Sep 19, 2004 3:52 pm

Can anyone tell me more about this horse? Just curious about him, my APR tells me he ran over 10 calendar years, and yet he won the Canadian Derby (and numerous other stakes). Is/was the Canadian Derby comparable to our Ky Derby? Was he a gelding? He is in the 3rd gen of my mares pedigree and was just wondering about him. If I added correctly he hit the board 68 of 123 starts lifetime.

Hi Jessi, I dont think the Canadian Derby is like the KY Derby. I always thought of the Canadian Triple Crown as the Queens Plate, The Prince of Wales and The Breeders Stakes. Good luck in tracing hs history..I love a horse that can run sound that many years!

The Canadian Derby has been a G3 the last couple of years. Most people would consider the Queen's Plate to be the Canadian counterpart to the Kentucly Derby, although an important distinction (which keeps it from achieving graded status) is its restriction to Canadian-breds.

Thanks guys! So, the races this guy won were middle class stakes then with the odd 'upper-middle class" one thrown in here and there?

I tried to update his earnings, the database had him with his earnings thru age 6 (and I believe he ran another 5-6 years). However, when I tried to edit the info was unable to get it to update, the browser just did nothing.

One thing this family seems to produce (that I love) are horses that can run for years and have lots of wins/placings....
