Forestry Colt Brings World Record $16 million
I believe that's a world record for any type of horse at public auction. Nice looking colt, but not $16 million worth of good-looking. Still no word on who gave in first.

Amazing price for a Keeneland September yearling that only went for 425k...

What you all don't seem to understand is at this level, its much less about the horse and more about WINNING. Im positive neither connection wanted to pay that much for that colt; its not a matter of if he's worth it or not, its a matter of NOT LOSING. Its a matter of not so much winning the colt, its not letting the other guy have it. Egos on that level are so far out of the realm of normalcy.....look at it this way....you will NEVER see 2 women getting into a bidding war like that. Had it been all about the colt, they would have pooled their resources and bought him for 1/3 of that. But its about power, and winning. Pathetic, isnt it?

Uuuuuuh, you might want to rethink that. If you don't think woman have egos that match their competitive streak ... well, don't ever think to challenge my driving. I've made men 10 years my senior cry.
And I've seen more than my fair share of women who get into bidding wars for no other reason than they don't want someone else to have something (typically, it's jewelry).

Some people just have too much money...
And that was my second reaction. Actually, it was more along the lines of "Do you SEE what happens when people have more money than brains?"
I'm amazed at how often people say that when rich people spend their money the way they want to (and actually I'm surprised no one has mentioned starving children in India yet
