Maybe if Barbaro recovers, they'll breed him to Dancininmydreams...

I'm still not convinced B's problem was inherent unsoundness (even if I did see him gimping after the Derby). He took a freak bad step.

Actually, I was joking, but I just ran the match and it's not that bad. I could do without the 2x3 Prospector, but I think that's just something we're going to have to start getting use to.

Hmmm... a lot of speculation is being posed about Barbaro as if his stud career was a given thing, provided he recovers and is up to the task. But there are a lot of horses who won the Derby and did not have much in the way of stud careers, and I suspect Barbaro might fall into this category.

I just can't get excited about a son of Dynaformer as a stallion prospect.

Um, *I'm* not 'speculating' on anything, madelyn. I think I was the first to express doubts about his ability as a sire and that FOS was WAY overestimating what his future stud fee might be.

*I* was making a joke about breeding him to this mare with no speculation attached as to how good the foal would be, only that it's the kind of fairytale Hollywood loves.

*I'm* still not even 100% convinced the horse is going to be alive this time next year or that he'll ever sire a TB. There's still too much that can go wrong, I don't care how well the vets keep saying he's doing. I've seen perfectly healthy horses at the 6am feed be DEAD at the 6pm feed.

LOL you know talent wise it wouldn't be a bad match at all. I'd be leery of crossing two horses with almost the exact same injury though. It might push the bad luck into a definite possibility.

I also agree it is a bit premature to think of stallion for Barbaro, he's got months of hurdles ahead before we know if he'll even survive.

BUT if he does I think he's a great stallion prospect.

I don't think you can judge Dynaformer as a flop as a sire of sires yet. How many of his sons at stud were really good race horses? Barbaro is really his first GOOD colt. A grade majority of his best runners and fillies, and Perfect Drift is a gelding.
