the person who posted that the breeding industry may take off by itself without the present horse racing end of it gives some pause for thought. Can this sport turn into a NASCAR Circuit with a few rich owners racing their horses, and the rest of us that may be left in bull rings racing for peanuts? while BDW's point may be hypersensative in it's context, I'd agree with Winds that the tone of the thread disturbs. Part of racing's current problem seems that for too many (see every HBPA) it's about the money instead of the athletics. I, for one, am without any thinking that the weekend fan should appreciate my need to promote a horse, and I'd agree with BDW that those in the business failing to consider wagering attendance essential to the sport shoot themselves in the foot. In the same context I've yet to figure out how on Breeder's Cup or Derby Day such sponsors as Chrysler or Bessemer Trust get one sentence from the presenters. The way racing promotes itself has got a ways to go!

the true racing fans, peple like me who would drive to opening day in 6 inches of snow just to see live racing, who keep racing alfloat when shit was REALLY bad. don't abondon us now. give us the respect we want.

I vow when I do get my horses i would never be like that. my love for racing is to much to disrespect fans in that manner, partlly because I would be disrespecting myself.

tuc,

someone as smart as you should know that I dont' have to drive 50 mintues from my townhouse in west little rock to downtown hot sprintgs just ot place a bet. I can actuaoly place a bet now on my iphone if I so choose. xpressbet is my means of gambling.

I've been a horse racing FAN since the age of 10. I've been laying the horses for a living since I was 23. a year and a half. even this sarcastic tounge in cheek induendo that I don't give a shit aobut the hroses, just the money is what's wrong, trainers like yourself, owners like yourself are to blind to see that people out there REALLY love horse racing. Horse racing would be my passion even if there was no gambling involved, I would just have to find a different living.

I'd start to quesiton YOUR passion because you seem to think no one else is entitled to any.

Respect for the fans, huh?

When he was riding, Angel Cordero used to wear a big diamond stud in his ear. One day at Belmont, he was walking from the jock's room to the paddock through the tunnel and someone said, "Hey, Cordero - you're a bum!" Cordero yelled back, "I have $5,000 in my ear...who are you calling a bum?" LOL!

I love that man!!!! :D He used to work Two Step Kid for Todd (for us) and he said, the reason he loved riding him was because he was such a pretty little horse that all the girls would come to watch him...he kills me, he's so funny.

sweetums it is far easier IF you hit to gt someone to sign for you at the track. If you do it on your phone or on any account, not so much.. taxes, taxes, taxes....

I love horse racing. That's why it's my life... all my friends are having kids and I have dogs and a horse... believe me it is my life! It's why I get up at obscene hours to go to work. And work with broken bones or dislocated joints, or pools of blood in various locations in my body. It is my life!

Question whatever you want. I don't know you, why would I give a shit what you thought?

He is funny, Green Hills. He says that when he was a rider, the whole world wanted to sit at his dinner table. Ever since he became a jock's agent, people avoid him like the plague. LMAO!

Well, I sure don't avoid him. I like him and he's worked over time a lot of our horses. His insights...aside from the pretty girls...are usually dead on.
