I don't think he would have caught BB but he was making a move on the rail and got shut out. In my eyes it was a bad ride by the jock to get him blocked on the inside. He was going to shoot through a tiny hole that closed quickly and checked up. Watch the replay. I think he would have been there. But that is just my 2 cents. Maybe the added distance will suit him if he runs.

No bashing here. I completely agree. I think Kentucky Bear could have easily been second, if he hadn't had such a brutal trip. In addition to what you say, I heard that another horse stepped on one of his hooves, and he ran most of the race on a bent shoe.

Edit to add: Kentucky Bear won't be in the Belmont. He's being pointed to a race at Woodbine.

There were brutal trips in the Derby as well...
Who wants to run against this horse this time of year? Likely no one, and those who have top three year olds just coming off of the shelf surely won't sacrifice their horses. It's a long year and there is little promise BB will be around at the end of it.
And it will have to be a jock's race to beat him... and I bet that doesn't happen

No, he's being pointed to the Colonial Turf Cup June 21st.

He did indeed have a terrible trip in the Preakness. He is a very nice horse with a big future.

He's a lovely horse; you'll like him. Just a big baby right now, but the frame is there.

I like a confident trainer and more so I love a trainer who not only is confident but backs up his talk. Dutrow is worried about only one thing. BB's feet.

Dutrow: "Well, I've seen Curlin get beat by a filly -- so that is not impressive to me. I can't imagine there's a filly breathing air that could beat Big Brown."

Oliverstoned: "Well I've seen Curlin win a 6 million dollar race WITHOUT steroids.

See he keeps endearing himself more and more...... jacka$$. And gee we will never know because unlike Big Brown, Curlin is actually continuing to do what he was bred for.....ummm what was that....oh yeah RACE!! And touche, I believe I saw a filly that had I think was absolutely 100%, that might have beat him. She at least wasn't pumped with additives. Nice response quote Oliver.

“The Japanese horse has so much to prove,” Dutrow said. “I don’t know if he’s on the top of his game training (at Belmont). I would not depend on this horse for second (place).”

Later in the teleconference, Yamamoto’s racing manager Nobutaka Tada was asked if Dutrow’s comments offended him. “No, not at all. I enjoy listening to his comments. It sounds like he knows our horse more than us.”

Dutrow was also asked if he was concerned that other riders in the Belmont would “gang up” on Big Brown. He was reminded that some people accused riders of doing that to Smarty Jones when he was defeated by Birdstone in the 2004 Belmont Stakes.

“I don’t believe anyone would do something like that,” he said. “If they did, they might get assassinated after the race. I can’t imagine they would do that.

WHAT! WHAT! Did he say the other Jocks may be killed for riding legally like they did in Smarty's Belmont? Who would do this the IEAH thugs?
A triple crown winner with these sleazy connections is not what racing needs.

I still appreciate watching Big Brown run but boy if ever there was a time for a guy to get his butt kicked... If anybody's seen the Indiana Jones movie, there's an action scene with Shia LeBeouf and foliage whacking a certain part of the anatomy that I'd really like see happen to Dutrow. I'd prefer not to see thugs in the winner's circle of the Belmont. Those Japanese connections for Casino Drive seem to have a pretty good sense of humor. They seem to have the don't get mad, get even philosophy of smack talk. Good deal.

Seriously how much has Dutrow even seen of CD to know he can take him? I get the impression he's not basing the arrogance entirely off of actual evidence.

Arrogance seems to be Dutrow's middle name. I swear if I hear one more commentary on him showcasing him as 'a changed man' I'm gonna puke. :x
