Actually having watched his other races on video I was always worried about how he would settle in a large field going a mile but I guess that problem was solved very quickly as his cruising speed is so high that he has no choice but to lead them. Now then will he stay a mile and a half?? That's the next problem for Henry Cecil who I am sure got a rousing ovation as he led his Champion back in to be unsaddled.

Hi Wilf,
You're welcome....with Henry Cecil at the helm I doubt he'd ask his horse to do something he can't. Personally, I see nothing in his pedigree to suggest distance limitations. His dam has the Rasmussen Factor to Natalma through 1/2 siblings Spring Adieu and Northern Dancer. The same RF carried by the great sire Danehill. He has complete representation in his dosage profile and his higest number of points fall in his classic wing. I think he only needs to stay sound. TJ

Royal Ascot really is a racegoer's treat,it should be on everyone's "bucket list". Canford Cliffs and Goldikova opening the carnival with a stirring duel then Frankel dashing away with 3 furlongs to go and holding onto his unbeaten record despite losing concentration. Still 3 more days to savour!

Here's the video of the Saint James Palace Stakes....stay with the video and watch the face on Sir Henry Cecil when the camera pans around to him in the stands while watching the race. TJ

I know the party line from the Frankel camp was that he lost focus and was "playing" the last 100 yards or so.

Hmmmm.

I agree with the announcer. That's sure not what it looked like. He was shortening stride and bobbing up and down but not because he was "bored".

Thanks for the link TJ, I have to agree with Willie Carson's observations about this wonderful horse in that he is getting better in his action and maturity! The ride was suicidal and you rarely see a turf horse take off more than half a mile from home and hold on,the same tactics got the great So You Think beaten today. If this horse relaxes and is held up until the quarter pole then we may see the real deal. If I am wrong then it won't be the first time but Frankel is still undefeated as I write.
