Betting the preakness
Going Sat to Pimlico, any advise?

Living close to Baltimore I have attended two runnings of the Preakness, 75 to see Foolish Pleasure and 76 to see Bold Forbes. I realize that a lot of years have gone by since then, however, there are two important aspects that I would suggest. Parking is always a problem, be prepared for that, and if you are driving to the track I would recommend parking near the grandstand gate. People who live there turn their lawns into a one day parking lot, in 75-76 the cost was $20.00, I would think it is higher today. Second, if you plan to wager on the card you must do it early or be prepared to stand in line for long periods of time. If you are going to see the horses and the race itself find a place near a monitor because it is very unlikely you will be able to see it from any vantage point, clubhouse, grandstand or any place else. Management at Pimlico cannot deal with a crowd of 20,000 let alone the amount of people that show up for the Preakness, so food, drinks and wagers are time consuming. The infield is a Woodstock type of experience, I would also avoid that if possible. I swore to myself after my first trip that I would never go again but Laz and Bold Forbes was too good to miss, and yes both of those Derby winners failed in the Preakness, just my luck. I would never tell anyone, especially you, not to go, but maybe this will help you have a better experience than I did.

I went to one Derby (Barbaro) and since I only live 80 miles or so from Pimlico, I decided to make the trip ! we have a park pass and grandstand tickets. Looking for a big win for California Chrome a native Californian like me

Have a grand time Nancy T. I hope you have a seat in the grandstand, because the general admission grandstand, at least years ago, was a waste. The infield at Pimlico is a zoo...
Given the forecast for Heavy rain Friday, I'm wondering about the track. I don't think that it dries out quickly like Churchill. At odds on, I'm not on Cal Chrome for this one.

Run the race - the one that's really worth winning.

I"m gonna make a small wgaer on Bayern. I can make a very very legit case for him in this race though probably not plausible.
WTF is baffert doing with the filly tho

Hi bdw,
Baffert doesn't train the filly anymore. The owner took Ria Antonia away from him after the Oaks and turned her over to Tom Amoss. TJ

Sorry, I did not understand that you were asking for betting advice. I think a pick 3 on races 10,11 and 12 might prove profitable, 8-11 for Race 10, 6-9 for Race 11 and 3-8 for Race 12, that would cost $8.00 for a $1.00 ticket. I also like a pick 4 with races 9,10,11 and 12, I would add 3-9 for Race 9, this would cost $8.00 for a $.50 ticket. Hope that helps.

I hope it was a Really Small Wager. I saw him in person in the Derby Trial and while he won that race (2nd by DQ) he was not "much the best" of that group and this was a Much Better Group.
Ride On Curlin seems to have really developed - and the (much) smaller field played out well for him. I was so jammed yesterday that I avoided any mention of the race or any coverage till I had time this morning to pull up the replay and check it out. On to the Belmont!
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

Re: Betting the preakness
yeah it wasn't that big. But this was the classic third off a layoff play you really could not judge his talent based off his last race. And it's not like he lost the race anyway.
I still think he's better than he's showing.
