These articles should put to an end the sad saga of Monzante....although the 60 day workout rule must be addressed by the LA Racing Commission to prevent this from happening again!!

I agree that the right to personal property is fundamental in this country. I think people are upset about this case because the welfare of this 9 year old G-1 winning gelding, who probably could have been retired before his last (4K claimer) race, does not seem to have been a prime motivator to his owners. Please note that the first and second sentences above are not mutually contradictory. This type of thing gives racing a black eye and is also morally repugnant.
