The rant is on You Tube. His wife makes multiple attempts at getting him to shut up and finally droops down and puts her head behind his back and is probably yelling at him at this point. He turns and must say something like "I don't care" and she responds with, "well, I do". He utters something short and then he gets the exaggerated eye roll. Priceless

The sad thing is the posters on this story on non TB sites overwhelmingly agree with Coburn and his shameful rant. Now instead of encouraging new owners to the sport he has fed into a belief that the deck is stacked against the little guy. Then stupid Costas goes and tries to taunt a response out of Mr. Evans at the trophy presentation!

Re: "This is the Cowards Way Out"
He should be thankful that other better horses left him alone to win the other 2 legs, "Dumb Ass Stables", well named .

It just keeps getting worse for Coburn. Playing basketball against kids in wheelchairs? Three scoops of ice cream? Math is simple 1,2,3?

Re: "This is the Cowards Way Out"
Chrome's reputation should not suffer because one of his owners is a moron. I am not a Chrome mad fan but the horse ran a very brave race considering he was whacked right out of the gate as they broke and although a grabbed quarter is no big deal it certainly has a negative effect. He was taken out of his usual comfortable style by saving ground inside and behind and then had to run a quarter mile farther than ever before on a slowish tiring surface. I thought the run was respectable , that's racing. It would have been nice if Coburn had made the horse's welfare his first concern then maybe held court later. Probably never going to happen given his blowhard style. Too bad.

This will not ever be forgiven within the industry, so probably he took CC down aswell by his remarks. If you do not like the rules, than do not start. By starting your horse, you are accepting the rules.

hi BenB
As for Coburn's so-called apology; it just may be a perfect example of a-day-late-and-a-dollar-short.
Coburn's Dumb Ass Partners will likely be in for a very rude awakening if/when CalChrome is retired to stud.
Words mean something...and I've no doubt that Coburn's words have/will cost Dumb Ass Partners plenty in the way of interest and support, which translates to less dollars; maybe MUCH less.
Respectfully
Some, if not many, in the industry/game may forgive Coburn...most though will likely not forget what he said post race (and his subsequent remarks/blabber).BenB wrote:This will not ever be forgiven within the industry, so probably he took CC down aswell by his remarks. ...
