Opinions on these two trainers?

Postby tbrace » Sun Jan 28, 2007 3:20 pm

What have you heard about these two trainers:

Dennis Patterson

and, or,

Aggie Ordonez?

Both are Norhern Cal. folks.

Ordonez holds her own. She took good care of a horse we laid over with her.

I know both of them. They do a good job. Aggie was Brent Sumja's assistant and took over a number of Brent's clients when he decided to stop training.

Dennis is a good caretacker, very experienced and always around his barn.

My friend uses Dennis and loves him, real nice guy who takes great care of his horses and easy to deal with. He has had some health issues though.

Dennis is a horseman. inspite of his health issues, he can't stay away from the barn. He wins at a good clip with a limited number of horses. IF he isn't able to get to the barn his son Bill is there and also a horseman.

Thanks for the feedback. These folks apparently have great reputations, and well deserved from all the positive PMs that I have received.

between the two

Postby SIBONEY » Fri Feb 02, 2007 10:20 pm

if you i had to make a choice only between the two trainers.

Patterson would be my choice hands down. I'm a trainer in the Bay Area for 20+ years and have seen both of your "candidates" work/results. I know both only professionally, so i don't have any prejudices either way.

Patterson has the advantage of experience. He has a patient way with his stock and in Northern California that's big. He attempts to prove his stock and improve his stock. He has an honest reputation and is respected by the jockey colony....another big plus in Northern California. Seldom do his horses get claimed. Yet his % is very good.

Ordonez seems nice, but inexperienced. Her stock runs well for the most part, but many of her wins have come via the all too frequent drop in class. She's lost many in her short training career by way of the claim..and a good percentage of them have come back to win for others? To her credit, she also has an honest reputation.

Thank you so much for saying that abut Poppa Dennis. He is such a good horseman!
We his family appeciate your nice (and true) words. He is so dedicated and thorough. Even on days when he's sick you can barely drag him out of the barn at night.
One of his sons is my husband  so I am just family by association, but I have the utmost respect fo him as a human and as a horseman.

One could only hope to have a reputation like Dennis'.

Does someone have an email address for him? Could you pm it to us? We will definitely be sending some horses.
