Dubai - who's going to take home the money?

Postby geowarrior » Tue Mar 27, 2007 4:04 pm

A lot of good horses in these races in Dubai. Does anyone have any thoughts? All I know is that some horses I like are bound to be beaten, because the competition is so strong. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Invasor will wipe the floor with Discreet Cat. I'd like to see Lava Man finally triumph outside California. I love Collier Hill and Miesque's Approval. I think Honey Ryder is outmatched.

Ooooh love your new avatar. Who is it??

Invasor is the real deal, I think.
Floor duly wiped.
Honey Ryder will pick up a 4th or so . . .
well, let me shut up as I don't know the foreign horses (foreign to us)
Lava Man...I doubt it, although I'd love to see it.

I have to remember to DVR TVG for it. It's the 31st, right?

Thanks Toccet. The Avatar is Gear It Up (Festival of Light x Wild Gear) who is one of my three partnership horses. He likes doing that noble crested head thing.

Yes the Dubai races are Saturday. I believe the World Cup is being shown on ABC and the time is 2 or 2.30 Eastern. I read somewhere that HRTV is showing the whole card, but now I can't remember where I read that. Don't know what TVG is planning.

The NBC website is streaming the Florida Derby also, so I guess I'll get to see a bit of racing on Saturday.

My avatar is just a Saratoga pony, who had the damndest sharp little teeth like a dog's, but I just like the shot.

TVG BETTER have something.

:x

Hey, Geo...the Grade III you won was an off the turf race - and the other two entered were eased. LOL!

Don't mind me...just some amusement at your expense. LOL!

My money is on Invasor, for sure. He's done everything right coming into this, and not hinted at anything that might make him lose. No chinks in his armor, so far.

That said, I wouldn't mind losing my money in the case that Lava Man comes up on top. If the race were run in CA instead of, well, anywhere else, then I'd have a tough time choosing between him and Invasor.

Discreet Cat doesn't figure, at least on what I've seen--but that is limited, of course. His defeating Invasor so long ago doesn't make him a better horse. Invasor has a lot more racing experience, like a lot of other horses do in this race. So far, I don't know enough about Discreet Cat to put him in the race. He's a bit of a wildcard. Depending on the circumstances, a win by Discreet Cat won't answer all my questions about the horse.

It'll be an exciting one to watch. I'm really looking forward to it, but I have to work, so that guarantees that an emergency will come in during the this time. Oh well, I'm used to scrambling around for replays.

Lava Man and Invasor are entered in different races though, aren't they?

I have posted my GSV and GSV2 numbers for the entire card on my web site along with a short analysis based on their genetic strength

http://www.members.shaw.ca/thematchmaker/

One thing for sure, I'll be rich if they win, there are so many longshots with high GSV and GSV2 scores

good luck all
George

I don't care if it was a walkover in absolute slop, just hand over that GIII purse!

George, the gsv scores are interesting, thanks for sharing them.

I think if it becomes a dogfight, Invasor beats DC but there's no pace in the race DC might be allowed to hack and steal a break and the cheque... I'd love to see Sir Percy run well and restore my faith in the race formerly known as the worlds greatest, and of course Pompei Ruler is a rising star here and flying the flag for the aussies!

Incidentally have a look at the arabians only race and spot the name that stands out like a sore thumb!

My intuition says Invasor > Premium Tap > Discreet Cat. Looks like strategy will be very important...

It's hard to bet against Invasor. He's fast, battle tested and likes to win. DC on the other hand is a little more Bernardini in that (as far as I can remember) he hasn't had to look someone dead in the eye down the stretch and dig in for the finish. Until he does that, I'm not completely sold on him.

I love Premium Tap, but I'm not sure he can stay with Invasor. I'd like to see him get a good piece of this race though, because I think he's paid his dues and he's got oodles of heart.
