What distance would you try this mare at???

Postby Regal13 » Thu Sep 13, 2007 1:28 pm

If this were your mare, what distance would you try her at??? This mare's pedigree interests me, but she has little of note immediately up close (or herself for that matter). This mare is up for adoption as an eventer prospect because she "showed no promise." I'm wondering if she wasn't tried at the distances that her pedigree suggests, or if there really just isn't much talent there.... Obviously (since she is being adopted) she couldn't race again anyway, but I'm wondering if she would have any value whatsoever as a broodmare in a regional market (Ohio).

Does anyone see any value to her pedigree??

I'm curious about her knees. You see, you have two sire lines known for offset knees. What do hers look like? And does she have short cannons (like I would imagine)?

Archer, here is the link to some photos of her. One of the photos might show that she is VERY slightly over at the knee, but in the others her knees seem pretty straight. Cannons seem normal, to me at least. I guess if I had to pick one way or the other they might be slightly short...

Thanks!

Thanks for the link to the pictures! It's tough to tell without watching her walk but those knees appear offset, just not as much as I would have thought considering her family. She looks like a willing sort in the photos . . . so, are you leasing? Or adopting? Or whatever it is?

In the one front view photo, it could be a bad angle and it is a bit difficult to discern, but her left leg appears to be crooked while the right knee looks offset.
