Calder race 8 today?

Postby Gato Del Sol » Sun Nov 25, 2007 5:40 pm

Anybody know the status of Heavenly Beauty the favorite in race 8 at Calder today? The Equibase chart says she broke down on the turn and fell. Does that mean she was put down?

It doesn't mean she was put down. Perhaps someone at Calder can tell you-maybe their track vet.

According to Calder's website she suffered a catastropic injury so she is gone. It is a shame her sire is Lightnin n Thunder and he had a career ending injury when he was 2. Another unsound stallion by Storm Cat passing on those good genes.

How sad  Hate to hear about these things.....

Q. Does Storm Cat have a bad reputation for being unsound as a sire? Are his sons usually unsound? :( :?:

8.8% of the injured horses on my personal research of breakdowns are sired by sons of Storm Cat (well, 4 of them sired by SC himself).
Of course this may be misleading due to the prevalence of his blood in the current runners today.

Thank you for your info.

I just hope and pray that my Metfield mare's first baby that is by a Storm Cat son will be nice and sound, as well as have a great personality. The sire is a gorgeous boy and has a friendly personality. My mare is gorgeous but can be a diva at times! I think I read that Seattle Slew descendants can be a bit stubborn at times....

thanks again! :D
