Casino Drive

Looks like he'll be going back into quarantine in order to return to the US in Sept. If the "ultimate goal" has always been the BC Classic, why did they even bother sending him back to Japan after he scratched from the Belmont? I don't get it. All that came out of that was two quarantines and a bunch of missed training.

Me three. :? Perhaps there were visa restrictions for the humans in his party? Or maybe his trainer has too many obligations in Japan for a protracted stay, and didn't relish leaving the horse here without him. That's all I could come up with, anyway.

I heard (no idea if it's true) that Japan won't let horses back into their country if they are gone for a certain amount of time.

There could be some rule that makes the return more difficult, depending upon the length of stay, but I have to think that this is a problem that could be solved for such a high-profile horse.

Never heard that earnings was a factor to get in. This is not the Kentucky Derby.

Hey George I found the answer to my question on the BC website. Looks like it will come down to the "panel of racing experts".

A maximum of 14 starters are allowed in each of the 14 Breeders' Cup Championships races with the exception of the Dirt Mile, Juvenile Fillies Turf and Juvenile Turf which will each be limited to 12 starters. Breeders' Cup Limited has adopted a field selection system to select runners in the event fields are oversubscribed. This system ranks horses in order of preference based upon (i) performance in Breeders' Cup Challenge Races, (ii) a point system, and (iii) the judgment of a panel of racing experts. The field selection system will be implemented as necessary following the taking of pre-entries on October 14, 2008, to officially rank the oversubscribed fields. The Racing Directors/Secretaries Panel (the “Panel”) will rank all the horses pre-entered in the oversubscribed races as described below. After pre-entry, any vacancies in the fields will be filled by horses in order of panel preference.

I forgot just how good this horse was.

yes he beat no one. but he did it about as effortsly as you can imagine A HORSE DOING IT.

the jockey had him under a hold while he was drawing past horses.

man.. i am going to hate handicapping this classic.

Would think they would let Casino Drive run, then. A BB/Curlin/CD match up would generate a lot of press/interest.

Saw the race yesterday. He looks good, but I wonder how he would do if someone looked him in the eye. I don't think I would pick him to win. Should be interesting.

Put those 3 in the same race ..... wow... I'd go with Casino Drive...but I still love Curlin! If CD beats Curlin, he is a monster.

i never did get the "looked him in the eye" thing. yes some horses show more grit than others.. one being lava man.. very gritty horse. but alot of it is 'talent" and casion drive oozes it.

casino drive is better than big brown. i have no doubt in my mind about it.

the real question is, casino drive or curlin or duke?

Would rather get the answer to "Zenyatta or Zarkava", but I guess we have to take what we can get.

Oh, and I haven't decided who my pick will be.

as good as It hink zenyetta is, zarkava would wipe the floor with her. she has made a believer out of me. her late kick is on a whole nother level then zenyettas.

It's all academic now, as Zarkava has been retired as well.
