West Point Thoroughbreds has a partnership put together on this horse from what I gather and in his first two races (I saw the debut on Youtube) he's got some big win margins. He's by E Dubai out of a Spectacular Bid mare and has an interesting build. Seriously I just found myself cocking my head and staring at him for awhile. Does he look more compact than he really is?
Terry gives an interview about him and that's too was posted on Youtube. They're going Gotham and Wood Memorial with him, saying if he can't get enough they're not going to freak out about earnings because they don't see him as being ready for it yet if he can't pull those off. Terry projected $130K to earn your way in this year which isn't far off I don't imagine.
This guy's pretty impressive looking. What do we see in his future? Anyway, he's the new "shhh don't tell anyone but this one's gonna be huge" buzz horse that I've been made aware of. They're getting offered a lot of money for him but given his value and how it would be divided up, I don't imagine they'll consider it profitable to sell for the amount that usually turns the heads of the single owners. $5-10 mil won't do it for them which Terry's already said. I figure they'll hold out, esp cuz they expect if he goes to the Derby that he'd be highly regarded by that time. Flashy Bull was nice but a longshot, they wanna win a Derby with a West Point horse.

Oh right I remember that. Yet another reason to take an interest in this colt. I heard they're talking about a tie in to taking the partners to Disney World. Seriously forget all the other deals they're trying to make, the "if we win we're going to Disney World" is totally the thing to market. I just saw Haynesfield's gonna meet up with Mr. Fantasy in the Gotham. As much as I enjoy the idea of a Funny Cide, part deux with the vibe of Haynesfield, I'd like to see a Mr. Fantasy-style eye opening run for the folks should he be up to taking it to the next level.

The Gotham will be one of the prep races next weekend. I'd like to hear others point of view on Mr. Fantasy's potential competition in this race especially I Want Revenge and Imperial Council.

Gotham Probables
Posted March 1, 2009
Likely to contend in the Gotham are Alex Foley (Just In Case); Haynesfield (Worth Watching), I Want Revenge (Looking Good), Imperial Council (Worth Watching); Masala; Mr. Fantasy (Worth Watching); Naos and Russell Road.
Haynesfield, a New York-bred son of Speightstown, lost his debut race at Saratoga last August, but has since reeled off four straight victories, including two in open company at Aqueduct in the Count Fleet and Whirlaway.
I Want Revenge ships in from California, where he ran third to Pioneerof the Nile in the Grade II Robert B. Lewis.
Axel Foley also shipped from California and has a work at Belmont Park. He was second in the California Derby but a poor fourth in the Grade III El Camino Real Derby. Chocolate Candy won both those races.
Imperial Council, a son of 2003 Wood Memorial and Belmont Stakes winner Empire Maker, has won two of three starts for trainer Shug McGaughey, while Mr. Fantasy is unbeaten in two starts for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. Naos has won two of three starts for trainer Todd Pletcher, who also figures to run Masala here.
Russell Road, a West Virginia-bred Wheaton gelding, has won six straight after a half-length loss at Charles Town to begin his career. Trained by James Casey, he will get a strong test for class in the Gotham.

same difference. great trainer who knows how to get his horse to peak at the right time.
Imperial Council reminds me oh so much of street sense, in the sense that he never ever just blew away the compitition to show his brilliance. he was always built up for a big event and ran his best race in the race he was supposed tor un it in. SS in the Tampa Bay Derby and the bluegrass was about 15 lengths off the one who toyed with the kentucky derby field.
I think IC will be like that. he will get better and better as time goes on. I think he can be really special, however it would not hurt me one bit if Mr. Fantasy won. in fact I wish he did. but I can't deny that to me IC just has "it".

His own sire was like that. as talanted as everyhone know EM was, he never had a real "WOW" type race. maybe you could say the florida derby when he beat trust in l uck, but you could still see the talent.

Steve Haskin was talking about the Thorograph numbers for the Gotham and said Mr. Fantasy's were a real standout. I didn't realize he has a 0 for he debut and like a negative after that and going longer. That's what I thought I heard. I gotta say, any horse out of a Spectacular Bid mare gets me all warm and fuzzy.

Hi Folks,
I'll be at the Big A in jacket and tie and that's a rare sight indeed!
Bill, Masala seems to be the 'smart' long shot. Many pundits pick him along with you so he may not be such a long shot. I actually like the other Lion Heart, Naos for 2nd.
It's a solid field and it should be a good race. I don't believe that Mr. Fantasy needs the lead but I do believe that he'll take it if that's what his connections want.
Keep in mind that Mr. Fantasy is a May 24th colt. He may have more upside that the others on top of his big talent. His last race was as professional as you could ask for. Yes, I am prejudiced towards him but I think he's the horse to beat. Safe home for all and enjoy the race.
Regards,
Pete
