Whew.....20 horses, that ought to make for some "excitement" on the first turn.

There goes Lukas with his typical no chance longshot, just to get his name in the big day's program. JMHO. I hate that breeding too; 31.25% Mr. P? Yuk.

Mr. P inbred

At least it is through Fappiano on the bottom....Fappiano is the most successful conduit in a Mr. P inbreeding.

I'll have to have a few $'s on Chocolate Candy and General Quarters @ 20-1. Friesan Fire is still my top pick.

I like POTN for two reasons:

1) I think he will improve on the dirt.
2) Breeding - He is out of a Lord At War mare.

Derby picks

Postby jrgators » Wed Apr 29, 2009 1:51 pm

I will be really pulling for General Quarters!

I am a small operation breeder/owner/trainer. I love to see us little guys play sucessfully on the big stage.

I will be cheering very hard for him.

I think IWR will be EXTREMELY hard to beat!

Agree on all counts, jrgators. When was the last time the KD winner came from The Bluegrass Stakes? Anyone?

Big Triple

Postby jrgators » Wed Apr 29, 2009 2:27 pm

What i want to see FINALLY is a triple crown winner!

I am 44 y/o but wasn't really into horse when we had our last triple crown winner. I was a huge fan of Alysheba, and thought there was NO way he's going to miss in the Belmont.

I was equally hoping with Smarty Jones, and when Big Brown made his move to the outside last year, I was sure it was all over............

I'd like to see atleast one more before I die!

OK, I've got a yearling colt....the name....Derez My Boyz...he'll get it done for me!! :D

Bill from Wa

Postby jagger » Wed Apr 29, 2009 2:53 pm

Bill from Wa posted a list of horses from top to bottom on another thread. I don't know if those are his final picks though. I think he had Friesan Fire at the head of the list, followed by Chocolate Candy, Take the points, Dunkirk, and I Want Revenge. Pioneer of the Nile was in 10th. Again, I don't know if these are his final picks. Steve Roman's picks (see web site above) are Friesan Fire, I Want Revenge and Pioneer Of The Nile. He has some really interesting data that might help with your picks.
