Where's all the chatter on this great filly? That was the most dramatic performance in years!

that it was. however the owner is doing his best to take a fire hose to any thought of her doing anything other than racing against over matched 3YO fillies so it kinda at least for me takes the fun out of it.

Rags To Riches was ruined after the Belmont. I'm not in any hurry for Rachel to end up the same way. She'll get her chance to run against older fillies and mares in due time. In the mean time, accumulate the wins, money and status against "over-matched 3YO fillies". Where are the "good" fillies? Did Storm Cat and A.P. Indy not breed in 2005 or were the "experts" not buying in 07 and 08?

There is always the hope of a Rachel Alexandra-Zenyatta-One Caroline hook up in the BC Distaff.

I have always mantained that she came back too soon. her workouts prior to her very last race were 3-4 seconds slower than any workout she ever made in her life. she needed more time for whatever the reason may be.

regardless, every horse has to be judged on a case by case basis. plenty of cases can be pointed to where fillies went up against the opposite sex and came out more than fine. six perfections, miesque, my flag, personal ensign, oujia board, sunline, zarkava, honest lady, etc.

I don't understand the connect between racing against males and injury. fillies race against fillies and get hurt all the time as well.

Finally someone gets it. 10000000% correct Make the money and then later take on the older fillies.

Running where you don't necessarily belong sometimes results in injury. Getting one's heart broken most times is worse than injury. Why tempt fate? Overextending a horse is not in the best interest of the horse and all parties involved.

I would throw Goldikova in to the mix of a potential 4 way race! I think if that ever happened I would have to see it live no matter what! :D
trying to come up with something brillant..... this may take a while. :)

the topic of this is not should RA race against the boys or not. It is why is there not any h oopla or the amount you would think, and that's why. RA beating up on helpless 3YO fillies is getting old. Doesn't make it right, or wrong, but it is.

TVG is reporting Jess Jackson is in the process of buying her for a reported $10 million. Plans are to run in the Preakness or Belmont which leads to the issue of Calvin Borel taking off the Derby winner to ride her in either of the next two TC legs..

I don't know why but the idea of JJ buying her really bothers me. I felt very confident she would of won the Derby but for some reason I am not as confident about her in the Preakness........and making Calvin choose, just don't like it.

They are also saying Rachel Alexandra will likely be transferred to Asmussen. I feel sorry for Hal Wiggins...his first G1 winner and she gets transferred to another trainer.

feel sorry for hal wiggins, but this is great news. If she runs int he preakness, I'm going to make a prediction that iw ill be one of the most viewed preaknesses in history.

A filly that should go off as the favoriate.

And a 50 to 1 shot kentucky derby winner going for the crown

And THE SAME JOCKEY ON BOTH. WHO IS HE TO RIDE?

Who believes that Calvin is going to keep the mount? It isn't necessarily a given.

The sale makes me sad. I can't help but feel insulted when a super rich guy makes the offer that can't logically be passed on, and the horse is instantly sent to a different trainer, and ridden by a different rider. So called A list people.

No one in the world was going to take better care of her then Hal Wiggins, and her former owners. I'll pray that as Jackson and Asmussen hit the spotlight with her, and run her against the best boys in the country, that she doesn't get hurt just as casual observers are becoming aware of her. I can't help feeling that Jackson and Asmussen are Ruffian/Foolish Pleasure types though.
