There can't be any question he will take Rachael Alexandra over Mine That Bird in the Preakness, should it come to that. She is by far the better racehorse, and Stonestreet is a better client. No brainer!

I suppose if you have enough money, you can do what you want to... however, I find it distasteful that at this point, after the connections of Mine That Bird have committed to the Preakness that Jackson would alter the game in this way and push for Rachael Alexandra to enter. I agree that Calvin would probably go with the filly, but why create the Hobbsian choice in the first place? Rachael Alexander is not in contention for the triple crown. Why not wait for the Belmont? Just my opinion, which doesn't matter since I am not the owner of either horse.

Ok didn't one of RA's owners buy in for 1.5mil a few races back? So he's making a 3.5 mil profit now (based on the reported 10mil selling figure). I don't no, here's a chance to race possibly the finest filly in awhile and go after some big purses, and some big fun. It's not like you can't get big bucks for her after she's done racing and what about them saying whats best for the horse, no Preakness or racing males blah blah blah, so they sell her to JJ who's going to the Preakness or Belmont.

Rachael is a no brainer. Mine That Bird loved the slop, got the trip and was the winner on that day. Rachael crushed. She looks to be the horse with much more ability to show. The Bird might be a one hit wonder. I hop he's not, and I enjoyed the Derby, and yet. This seems like a no brainer. JMO

I agree, but how many times if ever has a jockey GAVE UP the winning derby mount to ride another horse in the next race? that's a story by itself
another question, who picks up MTB?

Calvin and his agent are familliar with both horses. Again IMO they would be fools to step off of Rachael to stay on The Bird. His trainer pre Derby had won how many for the year? I am a results lover. Chip isn't a results trainer. Sometimes the best horse doesn't win a race. Sometimes the "opportunist" steps up. But the opportunist isn't the best horse of his generation neccesarily. Rachael had me twondering if Zenyatta the best horse in training at present could beat her. Made me hope that both the filly and the mare make it to BC. Yes I do realize there is a ton of racing in between and anything can happen. Rachael as I see it, has the ability to put more money in the pockets of rider and agent than The Bird does.
IF there was a situation where they had to choose it will be interesting to watch. The people with Birdie won't have a problem finding a rider. They might have more trouble finding a dupicate effort.

I personaly think that RA runs away and hides from Zenyatta. Mainly because of the contrasting running styles. Zenyatta is not catching RA. i'm sorry.
If you had to create a horse with no flaws (besides the dot on her head) it's RA. Crystal actually pointed out to me just how big her stride is compared to other fillies. She literarly gallops faster than other horses run.
When is Z going to race again? Her stable mate is no sluch eiher (life is sweet)

This is the absolute best case scenario for Borel, IMO. If he rides RA and MTB loses the Preakness (a very likely prediction), then everyone will say he (Borel) was the difference maker in the Derby and he comes out "smelling like roses". Even more so if RA wins the Preakness.
If he sticks with MTB and loses, he can just say he stayed with the Derby winner in the best interests of racing, shooting for a Triple Crown, even though he knew in his heart RA was the better runner. He really can't lose now ...
