Yesterday the Ada County Commisioners signed a lease agreement with Idaho Entertainment LLC to Operate Les Bois Park. The track is owned by the county. Idaho Ent. is a subsidiary of Oneida Capital/Plainfield racing. They operate the Wyoming Downs and Great Falls, Montana tracks.
The lease holders are going to re-name the track, Idaho Downs. (Ugh) No good ever comes from re-naming things. (IMHO)
Idaho Entertainment still has to obtain a license from the Idaho State Racing commision, and come to an agreement with the HBPA.
Oneida Capital has pissed off the horsemens groups in Wy. and Mt. by cutting their race dates. Wyoming downs got cut from 16 to 8 days, and Mt. 5 down from 8.
Oneida won't commit to a live meet of 46 days here in Idaho. They want to make a, "race circuit" of the three tracks. I fear they will try to get away with cutting the races here to a bare minimum.
When one is running for 2-3k purses, it isn't viable to ship in or out of here for just one race. Wyoming Downs is the closest recognized TB track to Les Bois and it is 300+ miles away.
I believe the county commissioners are anti racing, and this is their way of getting out of the business without looking bad. This way they give the lease to a group the horseman don't want to do business with, so it will make the horsemen look like they killed racing.

i am originally from idaho and i can not believe how they put so much money in to racing up there and run for 2k dollar purses it is crazy to me when they can put the same money in to racing elsewhere and run for so much more money..... great people in the intermountain area.... good luck to alll
