gio ponti vs zenyatta

Postby reenci » Wed Mar 24, 2010 2:33 pm

this is the matchup that really counts as RA is an also ran compared to these two....with Zenyatta taking the first match in the BCC...and Gio Ponti looking like he will win the world cup....what else is there for these two ?...all kidding aside...who in there right mind could believe that RA could stand up to these two titans....... ...she would be GASPING for air as these two ran by her. :!:

My father and I own a minority interest in Gitano Hernando so I'm hoping Gio Ponti isn't gonna have such an easy time in the World Cup, haha. I do think Gio's the top older male in the US, but Zenyatta handled him easily despite a much tougher trip in the Classic. I'm hoping that come Saturday our boy will cement himself as the top synthetic horse outside the US and I'd love to see a race against Zenyatta at some point just to find out (not making any bold predictions here, just hoping). Not many people are saying this, but to me, it's too bad this year's BC is not on the fake stuff because that would've lent itself to just the match up I'm talking about.

Like I said before she ran the table in a perfectly managed 3yold season winning a Triple Crown event and a prestigious NY stakes race. I don't think she can beat Zenyatta or Gio Ponti. I would think any field with Zenyatta and some speed, she will get beat. Any male field with Quality Road in it, she will get beat.

you really think QR can beat Z ? :? .....not at a mile and a quater certainly...and i seem to think not even a mile and 1/8th....see my gripe with QR is this...i saw him live in the flesh on traver's day...and he ran like i thought he would....not good enough....now on the other hand he was rushed for the traver's.....seem's there's always an issue with him..starting gate ...what ever.... but i do predict this..."quality road" becomes a successful top stallion......they should run him in the breeders cup mile this fall because thats where he will be king.

Yeah, I meant with any field that QR is in, RA would not stand a very good chance at winning. QR is a very talented speed horse. Both would be compromised facing each other.

Good luck, Justin! I think GH has a great shot (I'll totally have in him my exacta box, along with Allybar - almost bought him from the Arc sale... oh well - and Gloria De Campeo (sp))!!

Hmmm where to start.

Gio Ponti won't beat Zenyatta.

Quality Road is a sprinter/miler forget about being in Zenyatta's league.

Gitano Hernando on his latest run at Lingfield would be lucky to get in the top 5 in the World Cup.

Vision D'etat if fit and handles the track wins.

on synethics true

on turf gio would have an edge.

considering Quality Road has ran a beyer 10 points higher than Z ever has I would not make this statement

I like him at a price. i think this is red desires to win if she can duplicate her last race. think gio has lost a step. but gitano has not done anything wrong yet. he's been masterfully managed.

they were pointing towards this race since LAST year. that's hwy they did not run in the classic. A Peaked GH will bring it

Vision D'etat if fit and handles the track wins.
I think he's a tad bit overrated. I like Red Desire and Gio more than I like him

BDW, I think you hit precisely on the reason we think we have a real chance with Gitano, and that's his preparation coming into the race. The main contenders, Gio Ponti, Vision d'Etat, and Twice over have either (in the case of Gio Ponti) basically never stopped training and traveled a whole lot, or (in the case of the other two) not run yet in 2010. I think the prep we had was a good one, spotting 6 pounds and winning going away at a mile and a quarter from a horse who came back to finish close up in the Winter Derby. In the end, I'm hoping Gitano backs me up on this one by going out there and performing, but I definitely feel like we are coming into the race better than any of the other main contenders. This horse hasn't gotten much respect yet, so I'm pretty used to the comments like Dublino's that he doesn't have enough class. Hopefully he can pull another Goodwood here.

Oh, and thanks Daisy!
