Sorry guys, Paddy says he felt a little heat. Very minor, but safer to wait a week. We will look for something in the first week or so on the Santa Anita grass.

I did have a 4th place finisher earlier in the day in Cheers to Boogie (named after my 4 yo grandson!! The distance (5 furlongs turf) was too short for him but he made a nice little late move up the rail to be beaten only 2 3/4 lengths. Hopefully we will give him one more sprint to tighten him up and then go two turns.

My other horse, 2yo Panthers Claw (Quiet American - Crousille) ran on December 12th but he had to check badly twice, once down the backstretch and another time at about the furlong pole when he was poised to make a move up the rail but the gap closed quickly, so I think he will improve greatly for that run. Watch the race, it was an awful trip.
Gomez just wrapped him up after that.

Hopefully all three of them will keep me busy this year, and then Hog's Hollow will be back at the track in a couple of months after a lay up.

I'm glad it is nothing serious! Sounds like you have some exciting times coming in the winner's circle.

Well, Tippety Tap Tap had his second race since the set back and a good one it was too. He ran second in the 6th tace at Hollywood Park (a MSW at one mile on the turf) on Friday night at odds of 25/1. He still ran very green but was running on well at the finish and galloped out nicely, suggesting he might like a mile and an eigth or a mile and a quarter.

Hopefully he will progress from here and have no further issues. He looked and seemed well this morning.

I gave all of my frinds the $827 trifecta and then didn't bet it myself!! However I did have a $5 exacta box which paid $190 for a dollar and paid for dinner, but that was scant consolation!

DANG IT ALL I missed it!!! I would have even just liked to have had a couple of bucks on him to place or show..

Second place is a really nice place - get some cash and still keep eligibility as a maiden.

Thanks bdw and Zinn.

Would you believe after all that I could not make the race myself and had to watch it on tv? I went to Cabo a couple of weeks ago and apparently picked up a streptococcus infection through a crack in my heel, which managed to find its way into the blood stream. I just got out of the Acute Observation Unit late last night, but am laid up at home because I have a PICC line in my arm and have to have a further two weeks of intaveinouis injections!!

Of course I watched the race on tv though. Flores said he still ran green. Both he and Paddy said the horse looked as though he needed to go further, which is pretty clear from his pedigree..

I have four other at the track getting ready, but the closest to a race is my favorite, Hog's Hollow, ready to make a come back.

Well done, this horse is on the right track and shows all the signs of one that will bloom into something special. I hope so as you seem to go for turf stamina in your breeding program with the mare and that's a brave thing to try! I see that you have a 2yr old half sibling by Action This Day who now stands in Indiana , I will be keeping an eye out for that one too as I ran against one by him in a marathon starter series up here and although I beat him once he was a monster in that class. May your stable continue to prosper. Wilf.

Wilf: Thanks. Yes, I have always preferred turfers. The Action this Day filly, "Actionable Variety" has just started initial training in Kentucky and will come out to California in a couple of months. Unfortunately I lost the mare to colic last June and the last foal out of her is a colt by Kipling.

That was the third year in a row I lost a mare in Kentucky. I am now down to one breeding mare in Ireland who just foaled a gorgeous High Chaparral colt and has Hurricane Run 2yo filly and ylg filly in Ireland. I have the 2yo filly in training in Ireland and she looks to be ready to race by the end of June when they start writing mile races for 2yos.

Thanks Madelynn. I did appreciate your Pleasant Tap recommendation when I was looking for mating ideas. I have always liked him because he produces hard knocking types who can run on turf or dirt.

Good grief!! Take care. These infections illnesses are very serious business.
