Both Standardbred Southwind Go Go Go and TB Fast Eddie wore the Winning Tongue Plate Bit.

Griff: As I understand it. The Winning Tongue Plate Bit is designed to keep the tongue in place without the tie, not correct or prevent flipping palate.

This link does include "prevents displacement of soft palate," so I've read mixed messages on this bit. Obstensively, the object of tongue tie or this bit is to keep the horse from placing his tongue over the bit. They provide no evidence to prove it though. The article above says that no one really know why horse flip and that extension research is on-going.

I've seen horses that have a constriction scar around the tongue from the use of tongue ties. If anything this bit would prevent that.

Have decided to have the Sternothy myotomy done today or tomorrow see if we can get him back in training by Monday.

My Ctown trainer is loaning my Penn National trainer a WTB and we will train with that and run him again on either 03/24 or 03/30.

I think he did a classic flip at the 3/8 pole last Friday but w/o roaring then or in prior training. Fit as fiddle going off the track and next day.
