Anyone got any great recipe ideas for our backside party menu?

Oh, I'm so jealous... I hope to get down there for a Derby sometime in my life! Hope you all have a great time!!

As for me, I'll be home in front of the tube, in my usual position as "couch jockey"...

Wilko is my sentimental favorite, Bellamy Road is my other favorite...

And speaking of Rockport Harbor, he seems to have dropped off the radar. Am I correct in thinking his race record is all wins except for one second? Seems odd to see this one discounted so heavily when he always turns in a wonderful performance.

Whoa...did I put my foot in my mouth on that one! Poor Rocky. Hopefully he'll be back. Guess I'm down to three:

1. Afleet Alex
2. Bellamy Road
3. High Fly

If I remember correctly, some or your past predictions have been uncanny. Bellamy Road undoubtedly has the speed figure for it...but does he have the experience? He's never met Afleet Alex, High Fly or Rockport Harbor in a race yet, has he?

afleet alex
Belamy road
bandini
The winner will come from one of these three. Love AA but I wish he was being trained by another trainer. This guy is brutal on a horse.
Bellamy Road is coming into this race perfectly and if he wins the derby has an excellent shot at the TC. AA, if he wins the derby will get two out of three but not the last. Bandini could be a spoiler in any one of the TC races. Let's see how it plays out. I am excited to see the end of the story. I have loved AA since he was a young two yr old but his trainer has some very unorthodox training methods---to say the least.

Damn ... is there even anyone on that list that is actually going to make the race?

I couldn't even give you a top five at the moment.

Bellamy .. but only because he's the Boss' Hoss and I'm a Yankee Girl.

This is a prime example that racing fans and even some of those in the business have no clue what they are talking about. Brutal on a horse?? are you kidding me? Ritchey is probably one of if not the most hands on trainer in the top teir of racing trainers today. He keeps a small stable despite offers from new owners on a weekly basis, he goes over every horse in his stable himself at least twice a week, and no derby hopeful of 2005 recieves the attention that Alex does I can gaurantee you that. Who would you like to be training AA? Zito? Lukas? Baffert? Do you have any idea how many good, not great, but good horses these type of trainers ruin trying to find a tc winner, well I'll tell you. Alot. If you are reffering to the fact that Alex trains twice a day as brutal, think about it, he goes out in the morning and stretches his legs a bit then again later to gallop, do you really think a colt in top physical form likes to sit in his stall all day like most do?

racerx---this won't be debatable much longer. Let's see how Ritchey does through the TC races. All the big trainers have one thing on their side, they have been there before and they have all made mistakes. I have watched many TC inexperienced trainers make a ton of mistakes with their horses. Let's see how Ritchey handles the series. Most TC inexperienced trainers push their horses too much trying to win the derby and don't leave enough in the horse to finish the series well. It appears to me that this will probably be AA's doom as well. I wish nothing but good things for AA as I have bred one of my own mares to Northern Afleet this year-- so it is nothing personal I hold against Ritchey. I want AA to do very well because I believe Northern Afleet is an unbelievable stallion and AA is an excellent animal himself. Ritchey appears to be one of those trainers that really believes in heavy training for a race horse. Let's see how AA handles the pressure. However, I have to tell you, I wish AA was in the hands of someone who has already made their mistakes in the triple crown series. I wouldn't want them learning on my horse, that's not to say that Ritchey isn't a very good trainer. I just believe the TC series is a very unique experience for owner, trainer and horse alike. There is a lot to deal with the first time around. I wish them all well!

I'm sticking with Wilko as my sentimental Derby pick. He's the little horse that could, and still an underdog despite always being running at the end of his races. Hopefully he'll get it done next weekend. :D If he doesn't pull it off, I expect to see Bellamy Road, Bandini, Afleet Alex, or maybe Noble Causeway at the front. Not really a fan of AA or NC, but I have to respect them all the same.
