Dullahan in Pacific Classic

Postby TJ » Thu Aug 23, 2012 1:33 pm

Another TC runner who survived the Derby and the Belmont and ran poorly in the Haskell all on dirt.....is finally back where he belongs racing over a synthetic course. It won't be easy this Sunday, as he tries older in the Pacific Classic at Del Mar. Game on Dude, Richards Kid, Jaycito and Rail Trip to name a few nice older horses he will have to beat. Should be interesting? TJ

There are 2 NFB left from the TC series, Dullahan & Paynter. Let's hope D likes the synthetic in the PC.

Hi Louis,
Don't know if they are nfb?? or not but there are other TC performer's still around. Alpha and Liaison....and we could throw in Trinneberg and Gemologist from the Derby list. Teeth of the Dog from the Preakness and Atigun, Street Life, My Adonis and Five Sixteen from the Belmont.
Concerning Dullahan, he has been waiting to get back on a synthetic surface...just may have taken on a tough group? It will be interesting to see how he does against these. TJ

There are at least 3 different synthetic surfaces in California, and Del Mar doesn't play the same in the morning as it does in the afternoon. Dullahan likes some surfaces. He's quirky. If he likes it in the morning he may not like it in the PM.

this is true, but at the same time, what he has going for him is that the Polytrack is actual Polytrack, not some off brand synthetic. It's the same surface as Keenland which he loves.

Now I know that beucase the proximity to the ocean that it plays a tad different but still even with that, i really like Dullahan here at a decent price. Game on dude while good does not really care for this track

on synthetic, dullahan IMHO is right up there with Bodemeister and IHA as far as talent in this three year old crop.'

though i have an extremely soft spot for rail trip, this isn't his best trip or his best surface. this is dullahan's best trip and surface

Hi El,
Roman's believes the Del Mar surface is similar to the synthetic track at Keeneland....the site of his two winning races. What bother's me is...he hasn't had a published workout since he last ran almost a month ago in the Haskell. Might be a new tactic as he always worked very fast going into his races? TJ

but at the same time this race is very much out of the way. i don't think they would have shipped if he wasn't ready to run. that's a long flight to take just to be a part of the race

Hi bdw,
I made a mistake....his works are in line, he had them at CD before shipping to DM. TJ

Dullahan gets up to beat Game on Dude in a perfectly executed ride. He looked like the same horse he always was running over the synthetic courses. He's now 3 for three over that surface. He just never was a dirt horse. TJ

this was the easiest non fav race i have handidcap all year. if you just cross a line through all his dirt races he should have been 2 to 1 here

So glad I stopped betting the horses years ago. I thought Dullahan was way over matched. Shows what I know.

Think I'll stick to breeding.
