Hi Cree,
I hate to say it....but there could be something to this. It looked like Saez was up in the irons way to soon after the wire. While it looked as if he was fumbling around with his stick, it appeared he cupped something from his right to left hand? Will Take Charge was responding well to the left stick till he started getting in some....Saez moved him outside in deep stretch, stopped using the stick and he actually lunged stronger at the wire under the "hand ride"? Note how he galloped out normally after he was finished fumbling with what at first glance looked like the stick....yet that cupping of his right hand while Saez was standing in the irons looked odd....odder yet was when the right hand made contact with the left and it clearly looked like he tucked something under the saddle pad with his left hand.....doesn't look good?? I agree, when I rewatched it the second, third, fourth, and fifth time, I thought it was strange he was hitting him and then hand rode him to the finish line. He was moving his hands a lot when he was untying the reins.

That all being said...why are they waiting a week to bring it to the attention of the stewards?

Hi Cree,
I think that was brought out in the article....it was the trainer's brother who noticed it on the NBC coverage of the Travers. He then had the tape sent to his brother and the decision was made to take it to the Commission. Saez stood up way too soon after the finish.....watch the other riders, none of them are doing that....they gallop out first. I think Saez was worried he had to speak with that commentator, so he tried to hide the joint while he was fumbling with his stick as a cover. Or this is just another one like the Santos joint story:>) TJ

this is a pretty neat trick--right handed whipping before the 3/8 while twirling ur stick in ur right hand and also hanging on to a buzzer. someone would have to explain buzzer use to me to understand this.

After finish line while conceivably--if u have the mind set that buzzer use would even occur to u--the sequence just after the jock stand up might be that buzzer was exchanged from right hand to left hand and then (behind the horse's mane on inside--u r unable to see it) with left hand tuck buzzer or drop it, or whatever, seems to me total conjecture as I am unable to see anything that looks like buzzer, AND this is exact sequence u'd expect for jock simply exchanging whip from left hand to right.

If this jock was using a buzzer he must be extremely experienced at it to have such an immediate mind set on upset winning of travers to stand up in shock considering whether he'd won the photo, while simultaneously preparing to raise stick in victory and hide buzzer. That's some doing???

Hi Rather,
His sequence after the wire made no sense....as far as the joint is concerned, it's similar to those handshake gags that you hook it on your finger, with some having that ring connecter....necessitating two hands to remove it. I do agree, there is a lot of conjecture same as with the Jose Santos scandal....but when you looked at the pictures you could see Jose Santos didn't have a joint. Santos was proven not guilty (and collected a big law suit against the Miami Herald)....this one looks much more involved then that one and the video looks as if there is something amiss. Saez' sequence of events after the finish line, were not normal...he should have been down on his horse galloping him out as all the other riders were. I hope it didn't happen....but it certainly looks odd. TJ

Here's the slow motion tape sent to Moreno's trainer by his brother. Raise the volume as his brother mumbles something:>). Saez is doing something with his hands, although without having physical evidence of what was in his hand...it will be hard to prove he did anything illegal. TJ

The jockey has been completely cleared by the authorities, but nobody bothers to post that. It was just a baseless, false accusation.

Hi George,
What, don't you count as a poster? It took so long....it was off the radar. Glad it turned out the way it did:>) TJ
