Early yet, but impressive showing for the first three days at Santa Anita - 13 races: 6 winners, with 3 place. Looks like he is teaming up with Procter and Mandella. http://www.equibase.com/profiles/Results.cfm?type=People&searchType=J&eID=1811 (current results).
Good to see him winning at the G1 level . . . wins the jockey title.

Good to see the ol' timer win this one.
Been a racin' fan for some time now and still remember bettin' on Steve back at Longacres, Washington State. Owners sold the land, track no longer exists, but the memories . . . .
Just a short while ago, I was in the neighborhood and was lucky enough to visit Kentucky Downs. As there could be no other way, they had a Jockey Hall of Fame Day. Four Hall of Fame jockeys were autographing their Hall of Fame cards, the donations going to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund. Along with Calvin Borel, Pat Day, Chris McCarron and Randy Romero, there was the old timer, Gary Stevens.
It was good to see him again. We shared a few words, exchanged a few of those old Longacres memories . . . he gave me a few extra cards to send back to the fellas back home.
It was good to see him win the Breeders' Cup Classic.
Its a great game . . .
