Filly Ria Antonia Derby Bound

Postby TJ » Sun Dec 08, 2013 6:44 pm

Ria Antonia's owner is convinced the 2YO fillies are better then the 2YO colts. He will point her to run against the boys and hopefully gain enough points for a berth in the derby starting gate. TJ

Well, if she gets enough points to make it to the starting gate, he'll have this one problem to worry about--

"As long as you don't stop her, because she's so big, once you let her roll, she's going to come running."

Hi Kari,
This 2 YO may be a nice horse....but doubt she will ever be as great as the bay in your profile pic:>) How she ever won that race that day...it was an incredible performance. TJ

They altered plans for BC Juvenile Fillies winner Ria Antonia. Instead of running against the boys in the Risen Star (as her owner advised), she will run on the under-card against fillies in the GR III Rachel Alexandra Stakes. TJ

Purse $200,000. For Fillies Three Years Old. By subscription of $200 by Saturday, February 8 $1,000 to enter, $1,000 additional to start. Supplemental nominations of $4,000 will be accepted at time of entry which shall include all fees. $200,000 Guaranteed of which 60% to the winner, 20% to second, 10% to third, 4% to fourth, 2% to fifth and 1% to starters sixth through ninth. Weight 122 Lbs. Non-winners of a graded stakes allowed 2 lbs, a sweepstakes at a mile or over allowed 4 lbs, a race at a mile or over since November 22 allowed 6 Lbs. (Maiden and claiming races not considered in estimating allowances). Starters to be named through the entry box by usual time of closing. The Rachel Alexandra Stakes will be limited to fourteen (14) starters. Preference to horses that have accumulated the highest lifetime earnings at the time of passing entry box. Failure to draw into the race will cancel all fees. A trophy will be presented to the winning owner. Closed Saturday, February 8, 2014, with 25 nominations. One And One Sixteenth Miles.

I like Pletcher's horse, Got Lucky, not only is she bred along the same pattern as Rags to Riches, among others, she placed in a graded stakes as a maiden. She is sharp and has the statistical advantage of having Secretariat and Buckpasser in X passing positions. There are plenty of standouts in her family tree and I believe she is the real deal. Safe trip to all.

Hi DDT,
I agree , if anyone can handle her...Platecher's Got Lucky looks OK. Also Baffert's horse can have something to say (Streaming)....we'll see if the GR I'S in California have any real horses in them...if they do, she will be tough. TJ
