Essentially what appears to have happened is that, in keeping with prior years activities, the track maintenance crew kept turning the snow into the track, rather than trying to remove it. In other years, that has been just fine, since this area generally only keeps snow until 10am or so of the day following the snowfall. Kentucky, at this time of the year - if not actually green it is usually some shade of beige or brown. Never white. Since the storm immediately following my last start, we've had nothing but one snowfall after another and absolutely no melting in between. So apparently, the track right now is a big thick skating rink. There has been no training there either. Sigh. Where is global warming when you need it

Turfway Park - What an Awful Winter!!!
My horse ran well enough in his last start that I had hopes pinned on a race in the book for Sunday (entries close tomorrow) but Turfway has cancelled racing until the solid block of ice that is the ENTIRE track has thawed. I wonder, at that point, how they will stop the polytrack from floating away?
