After a sub par performance in the Whitney followed by two subsequent poor works he was sent to Rood and Riddle. Palace Malice was diagnosed with bruising of his left hind cannon bone, severe enough to retire him from his racing career. TJ

Re: Palace Malice Retired
I have a feeling he will easily outdo his sire.
Yes Curlins are running well and earning money but his stakes and graded stakes numbers are shockingly poor.
He might have some competition for Champion first season sire - a lot of good horses retiring to the breeding shed for next year.

Re: Palace Malice Retired
It's too bad, this horse seemed like he was unbeatable until the Whitney. Horses have come back from bone bruises, I wonder why they decided not to bother with him? I think he could've been better at 5. He lasted long for a Pletcher Derby horse.
When I look at PM's pedigree, I see turf (I wonder what he would have been like on the grass?).
