mare at penn national also competing in hurdles
You don't see this everyday...a mare named Euro Power, last out in an allowance at Penn, was alternating between flat and hurdle races last year. Makes for an interesting past performance:) She's by Powerscourt out of a Cozzene mare.

Not that uncommon--they run on the flat to get fit for the hurdles.
This mare was well-known in Virginia for doing just that.

That first-condition allowance she won at the Spa was on the hurdle. Not long after she ran in allowance company at Keeneland on the flat.

I truly didn't know that, Kimberly Mine. I've never even seen a hurdle race and would have no idea how they are trained. The mare you referenced was amazing. She won a lot of money and was very talented. Love this game for all its interesting athletes.

In 2009 I won a mile and a half race at Colonial "off the turf" and the second placed horse was a filly named Green Velvet trained by Rosie Napravnik's sister Jazz who also ran horses over fences and she told me that later that mare won 2 Stakes over hurdles. The purses can be excellent and it's worth trying if you have the facilities to get a horse prepared for jumping. A lot of fun too!
