So far most of these horses that have won preps are more suited for 1 1/16 miles. Don't imagine a Notional over Vindication mare will run the Derby distance....but you could've said the same for a Lucky Pulpit!

I think you may be right. Vindication is an interesting one since his pedigree was or long distance-being by Seattle Slew out of a mare by Strawberry Road. They wouldn't have paid $2.1 million dollars for him if they didn't view him as a Triple Crown horse. And he is the broodmare sire, which accounts for distance. Being by Notional and the lack of data from Vindication and Bold Reasoning, it becomes hard to recommend Far Right to run the Derby distance. He does have Seattle Slew, though, as a 2nd dam sire and his 3rd dam sire, Bold Reasoning, produced Seattle Slew, so there is some possibility.

From what I can remember, in his short life, Vindication sired horses that did well from 6.5 furlongs to 8.5 furlongs. I just think deep down Far Right doesn't want more than 8.5 furlongs.
The horse I really like at this point is Ocho Ocho Ocho, at least pedigree-wise. I am no expert though!

I like Bolo if he can make the transition to dirt.
