Shared Belief v. American Pharoah

Postby bdw0617 » Sat May 16, 2015 8:33 pm

I was thinking about this today. It's a long way from now but what I would give to see Shared Belief and American Pharoah square off in the Classic this year.

As good as AP is, i don't know if he is good enough to beat a healthy shared belief at 10F. I also like mike smith more than vic. But AP is really really good.

I don't think it will to happen any time soon (or ever).
AP will retire at the end of this year (or earlier), and SB won't be back until fall, if he comes back fine and dandy.

I will humour you though. I think it would depend the where the race took place, who else was in the race, etc. AP on the front end left alone is dangerous. AP has never seen a horse with a finishing kick like SB. SB is a brawler, as he has shown in his various races getting picked on by Baffert's horses.
I'd take Smith a thousand times before I took Victor.

As much as I think AP is a monster, he's racing against 3-year-olds, and he has proven to be superior to his age group this year and last year.
