Airoforce

Postby Affirmed1 » Tue Mar 01, 2016 10:03 am

Does anyone know why Airoforce is off the Derby
Trail? (I'd read the article on The Bloodhorse, but
I can't get the bloody website to bring up the article).
thanks! :(

Well, technically he was a turf horse that ran a good dirt race on a wet track. He was unproven on dry, fast dirt... and his last race showed (possibly) that dirt wasn't for him. They've decided to go back to the turf.
Seems legit to me.

thanks for responding, Cree. I will follow his career with interest- I'm hoping
his sire, Colonel John (and the other sons of Tiznow) are successful as sires. :)

Thought he was going in the Spiral Stakes (G3) on the Polytrack at Turfway tomorrow.

Hi Mahubah,
Yes he is running Saturday in the Spiral. Entries and past performances for the Spiral are up in the handicapping section. Off the derby trail and the turf comment came from Casse after he was beaten badly over a fast dirt track in the Risen Star. http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/ ... erby-trail
Poly and turf are compatible and if he runs well tomorrow, maybe Casse will have a change of heart if he gains more Derby points? He's currently has 10 points and he's 28 in the Derby points standings. TJ

If he does well on the fake stuff, Casse has options at Woodbine for him in the open stakes. I'd like to see the colt there.

He didn't do well, so I wonder what's next?

I hope they put him in some Turf stakes. There is plenty of money to be made by a good turf horse.
