Tragedy at Belterra Park

Postby madelyn » Sat May 14, 2016 11:39 am

I was pressured into entering my horse for a maiden mile at Belterra Park on 5/8 and on 5/7 I evaluated things. I thought my horse was just not himself and I noted that Belterra had endured monsoon type rain for a lot of days so I scratched my horse.

The race he would have been in had a fatal breakdown and one after the wire that came up 3-legged; the next race had TWO breakdowns and then they cancelled the rest of the card. Apparently the track had washed away. By the way these were 5-horse fields. Racing has been cancelled until they install a new surface. I was very torn between being so SAD for the horses/owners that went through that and so HAPPY mine was safe in the barn to run again another day.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

Wow, that's horribly sad. As an owner, I'd be devastated. I am glad your horse is ok!

Sorry to hear of such a tragedy - but glad yours is OK. At some point, common sense has to come in...

Run the race - the one that's really worth winning.
