The horse ran 10 times this year, seemed to get better and better. Seemed pretty sound. By a sire that got better himself with age.
He's 3!!! Winstar spurns through these horses pretty quickly, they barely have yearlings at sales and they're shipping them off to make room for another 3-year-old.
Wouldn't you like to see a horse like him run at 4? Or 5?

Yes.

Yes I would have liked to see him race. And I don't like young stallions being shipped off to foreign lands even before they've had a chance to show their capabilities. Still burning about Archarcharch, Paddy O'Prado and Tizway (I know none of them are Winstar but it does seem to be a trend).

It's a trend with Winstar, and a couple of other places. I don't necessarily think they are any good for the industry. It's just a breeding factory using the "who's hot" stallion.

I did see a conformation photo of BoM, and he is quite lovely, but has a longer back and a big head. But other than that, lovely.

I try to never support the stud farms that churn the stallions and leave breeders holding the bag. Once the stallion is shipped out like that the market perception is that he was no good and the foals seem to have just about no value. Winstar seems to have emerged as a rough brash juggernaut stomping all over the business and trying to create new trends. I'm not sure at all if those trends are good or bad for the breed and the business. In the meantime, I will not be looking to breed at Winstar.

I agree with everything you said. My perception is that they don't value the individual horse. I somehow equate it to development companies building fast and cheaply built condos...

A business decision. A few operate out of some other sporting motives, and it costs them.

Then there a few like Sunday Silence.

Privman tweeted that he is back in training, turns out his fertility is below par.
Pleasantly surprised, I hope he comes back safely and runs huge.

He has been a very good, successful and productive horse. I think he could be great if given the time, chance, and proper handling/spotting ...
His SA and CD derbies and BC Mile were great runs.

Not just below par but effectively nil. After some testing, it was found that he has a genetic malfunction that keeps the swimmers from ever working right.

I suspect that he'll eventually be gelded. Perhaps before retirement, perhaps after.

So Battle of Midway is now not retired? I think it's nice to see horses campaign on. Too many are yanked off to the breeding shed when still really juveniles. To have good horses run on, in my opinion, provides an opportunity to raise the overall class of racing. Fans have a horse to cheer on for more than a few minutes!

Returns to racing in the Bing Crosby tomorrow … without Flavien Prat, however.

Ran a tiring 2nd to the very sharp Catalina Cruiser, beating the other 2 runners on class. He’ll need to step it up to run with CC next time, but it was nice to see him back.
