Gate moved during the start of a race.

I was watching tvg earlier. At Sunland park race 6 they had all the horses in the gate and then the gate started moving! Only maybe a foot or so but it was enough for the commentator to say something about it. They started the race as soon as it stoped moving. My question is, wouldn't that mess with a horse?

I've always wondered about that sort of thing. Seen a couple of similar kinds of things. The one I''m afraid of is when they have the front gate open, with the assistant starter standing their, and they actually pop the gates open...

Run the race - the one that's really worth winning.

Yikes that would be scary! Maybe they were doing a favor for a horse that didn't like the gate in their face? Lol
I guess in this case the starter was doing what he thought would stress the horses the least. It just caught me off guard I was expecting them to at least give them all a few extra moments to compose themselves, or possibly unload and then reload them all.
